When Steve Fonnyadt Sr. started SF Homes Ltd. in 1987 he had over 45 years of experience in the building and construction industry. He inherited a love of woodworking from his father who was a carpenter in Hungary.

When Steve Sr. came to Canada in 1956 he joined his brother in Calgary who was also working in the trade as a carpenter. In 1987 he decided along with his two sons he would turn his love of carpentry into a business. SF Homes Ltd. has been going strong ever since.

Not only has Steve Sr. handed down his business to his son who is also certified journeyman carpenter, Steve Sr. he has handed down the skills, knowledge and the integrity that goes along with having a family business. Not wanting to completely retire he still shows up to work now and then to lend a hand.

Robert Sr. and his two sons now oversee all aspects of SF Homes Ltd.. Continuing in their father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, they each have their own unique flair from unique detailed finishing work to custom designing and building on site “one of a kind” custom cabinetry. They are hands on from start to finish in all aspects of your custom home.

To ensure the highest standards and personalized service, we limit the volume of homes we build each year. Many of the tradesmen that work alongside us have been with us from the beginning and some we have known even longer. Every home we build is unique. You have a style and feel that you want in your home and we will work with you to achieve it, there is no detail to small or to large.

We found it highly valuable to bounce design ideas not only off the architect but Bob as well. After the plans were complete he spent a considerable amount of time helping us locate the new house on our property. During the construction process he was on site every day and we felt extremely comfortable knowing that every detail was being double-checked. SF Homes Ltd. built our present acreage home. We had met with several other builders, prior to choosing SF Homes Ltd., as our builder. We were very impressed and comfortable with them, right from our very first meeting, so choosing them as our builder was an easy decision.

Our main concerns were :

1) Having a home builder that we were comfortable with and felt that we could trust.

2) A home builder that could build us a quality home, with good specs so that there would not be a lot of up grades, presenting themselves once we started building.

3) A home builder who would have our home completed on time and to the price we had agreed upon.

4) A home builder that had a good warranty and one that would take care of any little problems that may arise.

SF Homes Ltd. filled all our criteria and were an excellent company to deal with. We worked with them for over a year and they were always willing to give us good ideas and possible alternative choices, if we were deciding on something that was not in our best interest. They were always open to suggestions and possible changes to the plan, if we so desired. Not only are SF Homes Ltd. a quality builder, but we also found their trades people to be very good as well.

When you build a new home you spend a considerable amount of time working with your builder and SF Homes Ltd. made it a very enjoyable experience. They also do a good majority of the building themselves, this also made us more comfortable. They built our home as if they were building it for themselves and quality workmanship was always important.
